How talent gating works
Two rules control which talents you can put a point into, matching WoW Forever's classic-style trees:
Row threshold: each tree has 7 rows, and reaching row N requires at least 5×N points already spent somewhere earlier in that same tree — the same 5-points-per-row rule classic WoW talent trees have always used.
Named prerequisites: some talents also need a specific talent above them maxed out first — for example, Ice Barrier requires a full point in Cold Snap. The exact prerequisite for each talent comes straight from Wowhead's WoW Forever data, shown as a line connecting the two icons that lights up once the prerequisite is met.
What this covers
All 9 original WoW classes are here, each with its full set of three classic-style talent trees: Druid (Balance, Feral Combat, Restoration), Hunter (Beast Mastery, Marksmanship, Survival), Mage (Arcane, Fire, Frost), Paladin (Holy, Protection, Retribution), Priest (Discipline, Holy, Shadow), Rogue (Assassination, Combat, Subtlety), Shaman (Elemental, Enhancement, Restoration), Warlock (Affliction, Demonology, Destruction), and Warrior (Arms, Fury, Protection) — all pulled directly from Wowhead's WoW Forever talent calculator.
Updated for the end of the beta: the trees now match the final beta build rather than the BlizzCon reveal. That's 21 new talents, 27 removed ones, and well over a hundred changes to numbers and positions. Feral Druid (Primal Bite, Shifting Power), Fury Warrior (Furious Precision, Gore Drinker, Lingering Rage), and Fire Mage (Heating Up, Accelerant) moved the most.
Everyday uses
Planning ahead of a new patch: trying out a build before you're actually at your computer with the game open.
Comparing two builds: seeing exactly which talents you'd give up to pick up a specific capstone or passive.
Learning a tree's layout: understanding which talents gate which, before committing points in-game.
