Time Card / Hours Calculator

Each shift is its own small calculation: the full clock-in to clock-out span, minus whatever unpaid break time falls inside it. Every shift's worked time is then added together for the period total — the calculator also detects when a clock-out time is earlier in the day than clock-in and treats it as an overnight shift automatically.

Worked example: three 9:00 AM–5:00 PM shifts with a 30-minute unpaid break each. Each shift is 8 hours minus 30 minutes = 7h 30m. Three of those total 22h 30m for the period — at $20/hour with overtime enabled at a 40-hour threshold, all of it falls under the threshold, for an estimated $450.00 in pay.

The default 40-hour weekly threshold and 1.5× multiplier match the standard U.S. federal overtime rule (FLSA), but overtime law is more layered in practice. Some states require overtime after 8 hours in a single day regardless of the weekly total, some have different thresholds for specific industries, and some employers apply their own more generous policies on top of the legal minimum. This calculator models a simple weekly threshold only — adjust the threshold and multiplier fields to match your actual situation, or turn overtime off if it doesn't apply to you.
