Your exact age is the span between your birth date and today, broken into years, months, and days.

The obvious shortcut is subtracting the birth year from the current year, but that breaks the moment your birthday hasn't happened yet this year. A person born on December 20, 1995 isn't 30 years old on January 1, 2026. They're still 29, because their birthday hasn't come around yet in that calendar year.

This calculator does a proper calendar-aware subtraction instead. It compares the year, month, and day of both dates separately: first the difference in years, then it adjusts by −1 if the birth month/day hasn't happened yet in the target year, and does the same at the month level using the actual number of days in the preceding month (28, 29, 30, or 31, leap years included).
